From the manufacturer of Botox®, Latisse® is a breakthrough eyelash product that effectively enhances the look of eyelashes. It is also the only product approved by the FDA to treat hypotrichosis, a condition that results in sparse and abnormal hair growth.
Latisse is well packaged and contains a sterile applicator that is also disposable. The active ingredient in the product is Bimatoprost, which has a proven ability to make lashes darker, thicker and longer. Initially, this drug was used to treat glaucoma and ocular pressure in an eye drop form called Lumigan. Eventually, users began to notice the positive side effect of a fuller lash line. Other ingredients include sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride, sodium phosphate, citric acid, dibasic and purified water.
The solution needs to be applied to a clean face and contact lenses must be removed before use. Although some reviews have stated that users have successfully applied Latisse to the brow line and lower lash line, it is advised to use the product as directed, specifically on the upper lid.
Latisse is an affordable alternative to many of the previously available eyelash enhancers. Within 16 weeks of use, it has been reported that the eyelash length may be increased by 25 percent and the thickness of the lash may be increased by over 100 percent. An overall darkening of the hair should also be noticed.
Reviews of Latisse have been overwhelmingly positive, praising the visible effects and ease of application. Using the product directly above the upper lash line for eight weeks, once a day, should give noticeable results. There have been some reports of allergic reaction to the benzalkonium chloride as well as itching, redness, dryness and irritation.
